EP Coyotes fall to San Diego

El Paso, Texas - The El Paso Coyotes were defeated back-to-back by pacific division leader, the San Diego Sockers, in an action packed Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) game at the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego, California.

The Coyotes now fall to 0 - 16 as they continue to struggle to win their first Major Arena Soccer League game.

The Coyotes’ started the game strong with a quick goal in the first minute of play by forward Daniel Frias. The Sockers quickly responded with two goals back-to-back. After the Sockers made their second goal, the Coyotes quickly came back behind a goal from forward Erick Hernandez to tie the game at the 7 minute mark in the first quarter. The Sockers then took over momentum of the game and scored five straight unanswered goals up until the 5:35 minute mark in the third quarter in which Diego Rodriguez scored the Coyotes’ third and final point of the game. 

The Sockers then shut out the Coyotes 3 to 0 in the fourth quarter to end the game 10 to 3. Socker’s superstar goalkeeper Chris Toth continued his dominance with 12 saves on 15 shots against (.800 svp)

Thursday’s matchup was the third and final meeting between the two teams. The Sockers swept the season series winning against the Coyotes 12-6, 10-4, and 10-3, respectively. The Coyotes hit the road to finish off their two-game road trip with a game against the Turlock Express.
